| For Your Consideration Best Contemporary Instrumental Album Yumi Kurosawa Metamorphosis Album description : Yumi Kurosawa is one of today's most exciting soloists on Japan's national instrument, the koto. Marking the debut of her new Album Metamorphosis, Yumi creates a transformative listening experience through her new compositions. The Yumi Kurosawa Trio blends the violin, percussion, and koto drawing upon many musical influences to reveal her abundant curiosity and remarkable capacity. Latin percussion, shakuhachi, and alto saxophone add a variety of tonal colors. The idea of borderless music is reimagined to create something very unique and special. This album recording and the world premiere of several music pieces were commissioned by Chamber Music America's Artistic Projects program funded through the generosity of the Howard Gilman Foundation. Bio : An award-winning koto star from a young age, Yumi Kurosawa won first prize at the National Koto Competitions and received a fellowship from the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan.
