| JANE IRA BLOOM & MARK HELIAS DUO Soapbox Gallery Sun, Nov 26 @ 4pm Brooklyn NY Soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom and bassist Mark Helias came together to create duets discovered in the moment in a way that is rarely heard today with their albums Some Kind of Tomorrow, See Our Way, and 2.3.23 Bloom/ Helias/ Previte. The long-time bandmates separated by space and time found a way to play in real time with one another and the results are magical. Two master improvisers and composers bring listeners up-close and personal to the first spark of their imaginations at work, recording duet improvisations from the spring of 2020 to winter 2023. The music is raw, authentic, intimate, alive, and unapologetic in its passion. Their sound is deep wood and polished brass recorded with a depth that is hard to describe. They played the music, recorded it, mastered it firsthand and then made it available to listeners as digital downloads on Bandcamp. Don't miss these fearless jazz explorers in their first public performance in celebration of their three recordings. write your comments about the article :: © 2023 Jazz News :: home page |
