On this latest release, Colette is joined by a thrilling rhythm section including pianist-keyboardist Leo Genovese, bassist John Benitez, Luisito Quintero on timbales, Yusnier Sanchez Bustamante on congas, and guest vocalist Mireya Ramos. Four of these musicians have been recipients of multiple Grammy awards.

The colorful recording begins with "Earth Rebirth, " a group improvisation which conveys a feeling tone of a new earth awakening.

The second track "Campiña" is an exhilarating version of a Cuban classic which includes Mireya Ramos on vocals. The medium-slow tempo atmospheric "El Raton" features a haunting melody and relaxed solos.

"Ni Contigo Ni Sin Ti" has a celebratory spirit accentuated by a conversation between the flute and the piano.

Colette's versions of Charles Mingus' "Reincarnation Of A Lovebird" and Abbey Lincoln's "Throw It Away" are energized by Latin rhythms and the leader's inventive approach of these classic jazz compositions.

Colette has always lived in the heart of NYC where she was born and raised. An adventurous, spirited and melodic flutist, Colette Michaan's music has been informed by many cultures. Throughout her extensive travels in Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean, she has performed and collaborated with musicians around the world.

Colette's four previous albums are: First Cause (2004), Querencia (2010), Incarnate/Encarna (2014), and Heaven & Earth (2017); each subsequent recording mirrors Colette's evolution and steady development.

Her current new release Earth Rebirth highlights Colette Michaan as one of today's outstanding flute players. It is a new milestone in her career, and a must-have recording for listeners who love Latin jazz.
