| "From A Cabin in the Woods," The upcoming fall release from Daniel Casares Guitarist/Composer Daniel Casares from A Coruña, Spain, to release new recording "From A Cabin in the Woods" Twelve experimental jazz compositions, all written and performed by Daniel Casares Daniel Casares - composition, production, guitar, electric bass, synthesizer, keyboard, EWI, alto saxophone, drums, percussion, mix, mastering Album releasing: October 20th, 2023 (Hout Records) From a Cabin in the Woods brings avant-garde jazz, psychedelic folk, and 60's rock together onto 12 experimental jazz compositions featuring an earthy sonority, rich textures, and probing improvisations. Guitarist, composer, and producer Daniel Casares considers it to be his most personal record to date, where he incorporates influences from a wide array of artists and genres that he explored across his musical life. Simple yet colorful melodies are complemented by contemporary jazz chord progressions and energetic performances, achieving an original and engaging outcome. Some tracks present lengthy guitar solos, while others find Daniel exploring the EWI, synth and keyboard. The album travels through different instrumentations and styles, all rooted together by their connection to North-American popular music. The title makes reference to the studio Daniel works from in the countryside, a place where he has felt happy and comfortable to explore and create in recent times. From a Cabin in the Woods contains dedications to some of the artist's biggest musical as well as personal inspirations, such as Madlib's Yesterday's New Quintet, Sun Ra, Captain Janeway, Warne Marsh, and his partner and family. Daniel Casares - composition, production, guitar, electric bass, synthesizer, keyboard, EWI, alto saxophone, drums, percussion, mix, mastering About Daniel Casares Daniel Casares is a jazz guitarist, composer, and producer from A Coruña, Spain. He started to study classical guitar at age 10, at 13 he picked up the electric guitar, and by 15 he began to produce original music. He studied at the Berklee College Of Music from 2014-2018 under the mentorship of Terence Blanchard, Dave Santoro, Darren Barrett, Kenny Werner, Mick Goodrick, Tim Miller, and many more. As a student he led a weekly set at the historic Wally's Jazz Cafe in Boston. After graduation, Daniel lived in New York City and was able to perform regularly as a sideman in the city's venues and clubs. He moved back to Galicia, Spain in 2019, where he performs often as a leader and sideman at the region's main musical venues. He completed a master's degree at SOAS University of London in 2022, and he will relocate to Denver, CO in 2023 to attend the DA Jazz Studies program at the University of Northern Colorado. Daniel's style as an improviser is powerful and creative. Rooted in the jazz tradition of the 40's, 50's and 60's, he also explores the sonorities of rock and the avant-garde. He has performed alongside artists such as Dave Holland, Terence Blanchard, Devin Daniels, Lluc Casares, Xan Campos, Iago Fernández, Francesco Ciniglio, Daniele Germani, Gonzalo del Val, and many more. In January 2021 the guitarist released Idleness, his first album as a leader, which he produced and played all instruments on. The outing explores his influences outside of the realm of jazz and puts forth a personal compositional voice. Daniel published over 20 releases independently since 2021, exploring a wide range of styles and utilizing different aliases.
