Exploding Pig to release "Jazz Futura" this fall

Austrian-based band Exploding Pig to

release new recording "Jazz Futura" in their continuing exploration into the sounds that make them ever distinctive.

Exploding Pig is an emerging eclectic band originating from Austria. Comprised of a talented group of friends with rich musical backgrounds, they're set to make waves with their versatile sound and style, often described as "Jazz Futura" or "Jazz meets 70's porn music".

As a result of quarantine and lockdowns, Exploding Pig came into existence. Influenced by American pop culture and the band mascot Ebɛr, Exploding Pig radiate a feel-good, genre-defying sound. The talented band aims to push the envelope with their sound Blending jazz, hip-hop, psychedelic lounge elements, and lo-fi beats. The new recording "Jazz Futura" will be available October 27th, 2023

Luis Bonilla

Ever eager and ambitious to move forward, Multi-Grammy Award Artist, Luis Bonilla continues to set his sights on the next step of creativity. 30 years of experience with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Poncho Sanchez, Lester Bowie, McCoy Tyner, Astrud Gilberto, Marc Anthony, Paquito d'Rivera, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Alejandro Sanz and Phil Collins has molded him into a distinct artist and entertainer. Luis' participation on any stage evokes a "contagious exuberance" (Jazzwise magazine) Since moving to Austria in 2018, Mr.Bonilla continues providing for the musical community as the co-owner of International Music Venue, Tubes and as a professor at University of Graz. His Latin Jazz Quintet continues garnering attention in Europe as well as the ubiquitous Exploding Pig.

Albi Klinger

Bassist Albi Klinger is a fortunate recipient of growing up in a rich, musical environment in Linz, Austria. His early days in music exposed him to the sounds of The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Iggy Pop and The Who. "There always has to be one bass player amongst all of the guitarists.", humorously quips Albi.

This realization presented him the opportunity to perform in a multitude and wide variety of musical settings from an early age. Mr. Klinger's musical ambitions and curiosity encouraged him to make the move to Graz. There, he was quickly adopted into the local scene of rock and pop artists as well as other creative generes including Jazz and film scoring.

Albi continues making his musical impact as an original founding member of Tiptoes and The Base, Graz' most well known Rock group of 30 years.

His time in Graz also includes being an integral member of Die Micherei Productions, where he and Fabio Schurischuster continue producing for film and commercial projects. A most recent production includes Sigi Feigl's Jazz Orchester Steiermark, featuring The Bass and Jazz Orchestra. Needless to say, being the "one bass player" has given Albi an open road and inspiration for a fresh approach to combine different styles of music and do it seamlessly.

Bernhard Wimmer

Known as a solid "Groove Machine, " Bernhard Wimmer's drumming can be heard with many bands and recordings ranging from Rock to Pop, Soul to Funk, Jazz to hip beats. His unconventional and unique approach is conveyed specifically towards the context and style of the music at hand. Exploding Pig is a clear example. In the early 2000s Bernhard Wimmer joined Austrian artist Hubert von Goisern, for which they claimed many industry awards. Additionally, he also toured extensively throughout Africa and Europe with Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir. Bernhard has also shared the touring stage with Tete Alhinho, Magou and Toninho Porto. A musical highlight at this time included performing with the great Mark Murphy. In addition to a busy performance schedule, Mr. Wimmer dedicates his energies composing and producing as well as teaching at the conservatory of Graz. These are areas he enthusiastically fulfills with creativity and passion.

Fabio Schurischuster

Internationally regarded as "The Austrian Army Knife", Fabio Schurischuster's cunning precision and accuracy keeps him atop his game and a much sought-after guitarist, frontman, and producer. The Austrian-based music producer, sound designer, and multi-instrumentalist Fabio Schurischuster grew up in Salzburg and has been reshaping the creative landscape for the past decade across a multitude of musical genres. In step with his character, Fabio is known for his playfulness, creativity, and vintage sound… a sound clearly inspired by blues, rock, and jazz. In 2015, he established the recording studio and creative community "Die Mischerei" in Graz and has since collaborated with Grammy Award Winning Artists, Amadeus Award Winners and continues composing for the film and advertising industry. Always at the forefront of adventure and risk, Fabio's sharp skills and creative contributions are easily recognized at every turn in Exploding Pig.
