| "Coming to Fruition," the upcoming fall release from The Bobby Falk Group Jazz Artist Bobby Falk of Dallas, Texas will be releasing the album Coming to Fruition in October 2023. It will be featuring all new original music of the group recorded at his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky during October 2022 U.S. Tour. The album features excellent contributions from Aaron Irwinsky (Saxophones), Chris Borin (Trumpet/Flugelhorn), Craig Wagner (Guitar), Bobby Falk (Drums), Jeff Furgo and Wade Honey (piano/keys) and Jeff Plant (electric bass). The anticipated release of Coming to Fruition will be celebrated with notable events in Dallas/Fort Worth area, and a "Texas tour" in early October (McKinney, Austin, Denton, Allen, and Dallas), with the group featuring special guest Louisville jazz guitarist Craig Wagner. About Bobby Falk and group members The Bobby Falk group is a contemporary jazz group based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, performing original music and contemporary jazz. Bobby Falk is the drummer/leader since 2006, upon starting the group in Louisville, KY, and relocating to Dallas, TX in the summer of 2015. The group primarily focuses on material blending modern and traditional jazz, with fusion influences ranging from Pat Metheny, Rick Margitza, Michael Brecker and Steps Ahead. In addition to Bobby's acclaimed original music, the group features writing from the other band members on a consistent basis. The Bobby Falk group has released three full-length albums of original material (Samuel street songs, A New day, With my Dallas friends), and have performed locally and nationally, across the country at acclaimed events and festivals. In addition to local club/private performances, the group has been selected to perform at the Huntingburg Jazz fest (2013), Lexington library concert series (2014), Katy Jazz festival (2017), Durant jazz festival @ Southeastern Oklahoma State university (2018), Fort Worth main street arts festival (2017-present), Denton Jazz and Arts festival (2016-present), Fort Worth library jazz concert series (2017), Grapevine "Grapefest" (2022), and Granbury Jazz fest (2022). Earlier this year, The Bobby Falk group also performed at the 13th annual JEN convention (Jazz Education Network) January 2022 in Dallas, TX. Drummer Bobby Falk is a Louisville, KY native, who grew up in a musical family. Father Gary Falk is a saxophonist and owns local recording studio "Falk Audio", Mother Dorissa is pianist/organist who taught music for over 30 years in public school. Bobby is a graduate of Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) High school and the University of Louisville jazz studies program, graduating in 2005 with BA Jazz studies (emphasis Percussion). Upon graduating University of Louisville, Bobby started composing music and established the "Bobby Falk group" a contemporary jazz ensemble, in addition to sideman/freelance work in the Kentucky-Indiana area. Bobby has performed with such notables as Lionel Hampton, Lew Soloff, Bobby Shew, Jamey Aebersold, Dave Zoller, Tommy Poole, Phil Woods, Craig Wagner, Curtis Fuller, and Shelley Carrol. Bobby, wife Anne and two boys moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Summer 2015. Bobby is very thrilled to take his music "on the road" for this tour and feature this outstanding group nationally. Saxophonist Aaron Irwinsky, a Fort Worth native – who graduated with a degree in jazz studies from University of Texas-Arlington (UTA), has been playing the saxophone most of his life, and has almost 30 years' experience professionally, performing with Peter Erskine, Louie Bellson, Dallas Jazz orchestra, Bobby Falk group, Dr. Tommy Poole (Oklahoma State university), Dave Zoller, Pete Gallio, Joe McBride, Shelley Carroll, Lynn Seaton (University of North Texas), Brad Leali, and the Jim Wiedner big band. He has also played aboard the SS Oceanbreeze, the SS Rembrandt, and the Seabourn Legend. Aaron is also a freelance member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Pops series. Trumpeter Chris Borin has been a member of the Bobby Falk Group since 2016. After graduating high school, Chris joined the Army Bands working not only as a trumpet player, but also as a vocalist, keyboardist, and sound technician with the 62nd Army Band then transferring to the 8th Army Band in Seoul, Korea serving the entire Korean Peninsula. After a four-year tour, Chris left the military and began school at UNT. While pursuing a degree in Jazz Performance, Chris performed and recorded with the 2 O'clock Lab Band, 3 O'clock Lab Band, UNT Zebras, and the UNT Latin Jazz Ensemble and provided him with opportunities to travel, play and teach in South Korea, the Czech Republic, and Mexico. Chris furthered his musical education earning a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2012. A much sought-after musician on a local and national level, Chris has played with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Dallas Jazz Orchestra, The Polyphonic Spree, Bobby Shew, Richie Cole, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Ana Popovic to name a few. Chris also maintains a personal home studio for film, television and music production. Electric bassist Jeff Plant is one of the most acclaimed and in-demand bassists locally and internationally. After receiving his degree in physics, Jeff attended graduate school at the prestigious University of North Texas jazz program. He has traveled extensively over the world performing music with a variety of artists and groups. He has recorded on hundreds of albums, commercials, soundtracks, demos, and sessions. He has recorded or performed with artists such as Wynonna Judd, Norah Jones, Monte Montgomery, Oz Noy, Chris Coleman, Mario Cruz, Pete Gallio, Natalie Grant, Jimi Tunnell, Dave Fiuczynski, Kirk Whalum, Tom Braxton, Jose Rossy, Mark Lettieri, Nachito Herrera, Michael Harris, Matt Thompson, Andy Timmons, Aaron Spears, as well as several Symphony Orchestras and three Super Bowls and many more. Having spent over 20 years recording on hundreds of sessions, Jeff's playing, voice acting, and writing have been featured on hundreds of commercials, jingles, video games, movie and cartoon soundtracks and albums. In addition, Jeff continues to perform/record with several fusion, jazz, funk, metal, R&B, Latin, and rock groups. Jeff has been a member of the Bobby Falk Group since 2017. Keyboardist Jeff Furgo is the newest member of the Bobby Falk Group. He received a music degree from Brigham Young University with an emphasis in Jazz Piano. Studying with Dan Waldis and Ray Smith, Jeff performed with Dixieland, Latin, Straight-ahead and Vocal jazz groups, accompanied modern dance classes and played with "Synthesis" the university's big band, which included performances with Dennis Rowland and Bob Mintzer. In addition to jazz styles, Jeff has been active with sacred music as the music director for his Church, conducting, writing, and arranging for choir & orchestra concerts for several years. Jeff also has also submitted arrangements to Church music contests winning awards of distinction. He continues to play organ on Sundays for his local congregation. He enjoys participating in small jazz & blues ensembles, big bands, and notably the Bobby Falk Group where he gets to play with some of the best musicians in the DFW area at some of the finest jazz venues. Jeff is married to a fine vocalist Jeanette, with whom they share their love for music with their three children.
