RENATO BORGHETTI (Brazil) - 60th Birthday Anniversary Tour in Austria and Italy

This July our favourite accordion gaścho will celebrate his 60th birthday an anniversary tour in Austria and Italy. The tour formation will be the quartet with Renato's long-time partners Pedro Figueiredo (sax/flute), Daniel Sį (guitar) and Vitor Peixoto (piano). We hope to see you at one of the upcoming concerts for a toast to the master of gaścho music!

Kind regards from Vienna,
Sabina Schebrak

"Borghetti's house-style is always close to the dance rhythms of Southern Brazil, and there's a lot of wit and pure joy in these arrangements... A gentle, reflective album born from a fantastically worthwile project." Songlines, UK, Gaita na Fįbrica

There is so much more to Brazil than Samba and Bossanova: The moody, bittersweet musica gaścha from Southern Brazil evokes wide-open spaces, the galloping of horses, the smell of coffee and mate tea being prepared over a campfire, and in recent years the genre has become increasingly popular across Brazil. Since the mid-1980s Renato Borghetti, a native of Rio Grande do Sul, has been one of its premier musical ambassadors: The fast-fingered gaita ponto virtuoso embraces tradition while incorporating just enough outside influence from jazz, pop, samba, and other Brazilian styles to keep the music from stagnating - he keeps finding intelligent ways to incorporate the rich, evocative sound of his instrument into new contexts and arrangements.

"Borghettinho" has been recording albums for almost 40 years, but he is above all an incredibly charismatic live performer. He was the first Brazilian musician who achieved a gold record with a purely instrumental album, is regularly touring in Europe and has founded the Fabrica de Gaiteiros, an accordion factory and school near Porto Alegre which has meanwhile given hundreds of children and young people in southern Brazil a musical education.
