Black Joe Lewis and Sol Roots perform at The Hamilton Live in Washington DC Fri July 7

On Friday July 7, Black Joe Lewis and Sol Roots join forces at The Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. for a night of upbeat funk, deep blues and soul, raw and raucous rock, and hypnotic grooves!

Black Joe Lewis is a contemporary singer and guitarist with a bent toward vintage blues, soul, and R&B. He formed Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears in Austin, Texas, in 2007. In March 2009, Esquire listed Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears as one of the "Ten Bands Set to Break Out at 2009's SXSW Festival.

Lewis draws inspiration from such legendary "shouters" as Howlin' Wolf, Wilson Pickett, and James Brown, as well as smoother crooners including Sam Cooke. The band has toured relentlessly over the last few years, releasing several gritty and raw albums. The most recent album find Black Joe Lewis exploring harder grooves and a stronger rock & roll influence.

The Sol Roots band performs a mix of New Orleans influenced funk, raw blues, energetic rock, greasy soul, and hypnotic rhythms. Sol is a fierce guitarist and soulful vocalist who has toured around the world with many musical legends. "Sol Roots brings a soulful blend of rock and blues, with a natural stage presence" – JamBase

Sol Roots is proud to be a "Next Generation" Music Maker Relief Foundation artist and an official Home Grown Music Network artist. Sol Roots was awarded "Best Blues Act/Group" by The Wammies / The MusicianShip 2019.

The Hamilton Live is Washington D.C.'s premier listening room — a destination for music and entertainment in a city where sophistication is charmed by a bohemian spirit creating a new, thriving underground. The Hamilton Live offers local, national and international musicians the unique opportunity to entertain within earshot of the White House.
