Portside in Old Town Summer Festival Fri June 16 , Sat June 17

The Portside in Old Town Summer Festival in Alexandria Virginia occurs on Friday June 16 and Saturday June 17, and features some of the best in regional jazz, blues, rock, zydeco, soul, indie, and world music performance groups. The musical lineup includes phenomenal jazz vocalist Sharón Clark, indie rockers Oh He Dead, zydeco master Curley Taylor, world class blues and funk performers Linwood Taylor and Sol Roots, talented Ethiopian vocalist Kalkidan Meshesha, Hermanos Galvan and Orchestra, and much more.

There will also be live mural painting by renowned artist Aniekan Udofia, poetry readings, flamenco performances, chocolate making demo, history activities, and lawn games as well.

Delicious food will be provided by Borinquen Lunch Box, Chalkboard Wings & BBQ, Kungfu Kitchen, Dolci Gelati and The Italian Place.

Port City Brewing Company will provide the award winning beer, as well as: Lost Boy Cider's Comeback Kid, Breaux Vineyards wine Hopwell, and Port City's hops-infused sparkling water.

This free event, which includes the 45th annual Alexandria Jazz Fest, will be held at Waterfront Park (1A Prince Street) on Friday June 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday June 17 from 1 to 9 p.m.

"This free festival features an array of live music, local craft beer from Port City Brewing Company and fun for the whole family on the Alexandria waterfront, " said Visit Alexandria.

The Portside Festival is organized by Visit Alexandria and the City's Office of the Arts and is sponsored by Ting Internet.
The musical lineup was selected in part by The Smithsonian Institute, NPR Music, and Levine School of Music.
