Ayelet Rose Gottlieb “Letters and Dreams” at the Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival

Letters and Dreams" is a new musical and poetic work artistically directed by Ayelet Rose Gottlieb and inspired by Deep Listening, apractice created by revolutionary feminist and LGBTQ+ composer Pauline Oliveros and her partner, dream specialist IONE. The audiencecan enjoy several unique and complementary offerings leading up to a performance at 7pm on June 11 at La Sala Rossa, during this year's Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival.

Within Deep Listening, Quantum Listening suggests that through focused and global listening we can be present in multiple times and geographies simultaneously. This is the artistic premise for the collaboration between IONE, Ayelet Rose Gottlieb, Moe Clark, and MiliHong, in which they will converse with their ancestors and the earth they walk on in a dream-like, improvisation-based setting.
In preparation for the performance, "found sounds" were collected in Jerusalem, Chile, Western Canada, Ecuador and Montreal fromurban and natural environments. In addition, Ayelet created graphic scores that the Ecuadorian Choir 'Ciudad de Quito' interpretedand pre-recorded. During the performance, Ayelet will play live with these sounds using a midi instrument especially built for her by electro-acoustic musician and sonic practice artist Elizabeth A. Baker.

Leading up to the venue, on the streets of Tiohtià:ke/Montréal - The audience is invited to listen to pre-recorded sound walkson the Echoes phone app, inviting them to enter the listening space.
