About Buck Clayton - A Buck Clayton Jam Session Vol. 3: Jazz Party Time

After being out of print for more than 30 years, Chiaroscuro is releasing the album for the first time on CD and digital. Produced by Hank O'Neal, JAZZ PARTY TIME is a milestone in the swing-era trumpeter's famed jam session recordings. The tracks include "Jazz Party Time, " "Kansas City Style, " "Even Steven, " and "Bandwagon, " each exceeding 10 minutes of pure Buck Clayton Groove.

A native of Parsons, Kansas, Wilbur Dorsey "Buck" Clayton (1911- 1991) is best known for his work with the Count Basie Orchestra and Billie Holiday but it's his contributions as a recording artist, sideman, arranger, bandleader, soloist, and educator that saw the master trumpeter move effortlessly from swing to be-bop and mainstream to modern jazz over a sixty-year career. In that time, he worked with greats: Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Hot Lips Page, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Coleman Hawkins, Harry James, Earl Hines, Eddie Condon and Buddy Tate.

Distribution for the album is provided by MVD Entertainment Group:
