| Swing That Music: Music on the Inside's December 11th Benefit Concert Dear MOTI friends, We are thrilled to invite you to join us as special Zoom guests on Sunday, December 11th at 6pm for our Musicians for Justice benefit concert "Swing that Music!" The concert - live and on Zoom - will highlight MOTI mentors and musicians in reentry performing with jazz greats Catherine Russell, Vince Giordano, Arturo O'Farrill and other luminaries in a tribute to Louis Armstrong. The music education Armstrong received while incarcerated as a youth, inspired the launch of Music on the Inside! We will also pay tribute to Honoree David Rothenberg, the Founder of Fortune Society and friend to MOTI. Since the launch of Music on the Inside in 2016, MOTI has partnered with Fortune Society to bring together top musicians from the jazz community with Fortune Society's community members in reentry. "Swing That Music" will be a hybrid event. Most of the musicians will be performing together at our gala and a few will Zoom in from as far away as Abu Dhabi! MOTI has presented over 85 free Zoom concerts, and featured over 500 top musicians, raising awareness and appreciation for the talents and humanity of individuals impacted by the justice system. We are asking you to make a $25, or more, tax-deductible contribution to attend this very special concert. Your generous support helps fund our music classes in prisons, music mentorships for those in reentry and of course our ongoing series of Musicians for Justice Concerts write your comments about the article :: © 2022 Jazz News :: home page |
