Emily & Sue, an a cappella pop opera by Dana Kaufman & Aiden K. Feltkamp out on 11/11!

Emily & Sue is an a cappella pop opera
by L.A.-based composer Dana Kaufman and librettist Aiden K. Feltkamp
out on Friday, November 11th. Emily & Sue focuses on the little-known
romantic relationship between poet Emily Dickinson and her sister-in-law
Susan Huntington Gilbert Dickinson. The plot extrapolates from their
letters and Dickinson's poetry, exploring the themes of isolation, queerness,
and forbidden love. Featured artists on the release are soprano Jasmine Muhammad
and Iris Vocal Trio.

Jasmine Muhammad will give the New York premiere of Emily & Sue at the National Opera Center's
Marc A. Scorca Hall on Sunday, November 13th at 7pm. Admission is pay-what-you-wish.
A post-concert reception will follow.

A film version of the opera directed by Ron Bashford, created in collaboration with Four/Ten Media
and filmed in Dickinson's actual room, will be released the same day as the album. Details on screenings
will be forthcoming.

Emily & Sue premiered on June 2 and 3, 2022 at Amherst College, which owns Dickinson's home/The Emily Dickinson
Museum and commissioned the work. The live version of the opera is composed for a fixed media a cappella pop trio
(Iris Vocal Trio) backtrack and one live medium-high or high voice who portrays Dickinson (a role created by
Jasmine Muhammad).

Attached is a press kit with more details for your reference along with private press links
to stream and download Emily & Sue. Please consider for reviews, featured coverage, air play,
and interviews. I would be happy to arrange interviews with Dana Kaufman, Aiden K. Feltkamp,
Jasmine Muhammad, and/or Iris Vocal Trio if you have timing available.
