Indian Jazz Artist Charu Suri Releases Book of Ragas: Volume 2
CHARU SURI RELEASES 'BOOK OF RAGAS VOLUME 2' WILL BE FIRST INDIAN JAZZ ARTIST TO REGISTER ALBUM COVER AS NFT
Creating musical history once again, Indian Jazz artist Charu Suri introduced her latest album-Book of Ragas Volume 2-to the world offering its cover illustration as an NFT.
No other Indian Jazz artist has ever done this before. Few artists if any, have stepped into the NFT world. "I hope the NFTs become a way for artists to finally get what they deserve, said pianist and composer, Charu Suri of the Charu Suri Trio.
A non-fungal token (or NFT) is a piece of art that is offered to the highest bidder to capture its creativity and uniqueness as an artistic creation. "The winning bidder of the NFT also gets a signed copy of the album as well as a private performance with the band, "
Suri announced the album's release in addition to her latest tour to Miami which will include three live appearances in five days with stops at the Betsy Hotel in South Beach on Thursday and Friday August 5th and 6th (from 6-11pm), and at Lagniappe on Monday, August 9th (from 9pm-midnight).
Suri first made musical history on December 19, 2019, when she became the only Indian Jazz artist to play her own program at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, a feat she will repeat November 13, 2021. She released "Book of Ragas" (scored for jazz trio with a Sufi singer) and the "New American Songbook" at that time.
In April, she won a gold record from ISSA and became "Jazz Artist of the Month." She has won several Global Music Awards and became a voting member of the Grammy's. In 2021 she received a total of six nominations in the International Singer Songwriter's Association (ISSA) Awards and was declared a finalist three times.
