In 1980, he founded the 14-piece George Gee Swing Orchestra (also known as the Make-Believe Ballroom Orchestra). George and his Orchestra have appeared at Lincoln Center, the Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival in New York, and around the globe for the past four decades. George is popular with lindy hoppers worldwide, including legendary Savoy Ballroom-dancers Frankie Manning and Dawn Hampton. >> >> He returned to his NYC hometown in 1990 and since has been performing regularly at Lincoln Center Midsummer Night Swing, SWING46, Merv Griffin's Coconut Club (Beverly Hills), The Cicada Club (LA), The Supper Club (now known as The Edison Ballroom), Birdland, The Rainbow Room, Smalls, Copacabana, and Django's. >> >> His musical resume includes special events with Magic Johnson, Quincy Jones, Scarlet Johansson, President Clinton, plus jazz luminaries including Clark Terry, Frank Foster, and Jimmy Heath.
