Saturn Quartet Debut "Synchronicities" - Radio & Print Critics Rave!

"Here's some young cats who met at FSU in Florida and now reside in New Orleans, with an impressive debut album, 'Synchronicities'. A nice mix of mostly sophisticated originals, a Trane composition (Satellite), a beautiful rendition of Mancini's "Moon River" that nearly brought me to tears, and a most sublime take on Paul McCartney's 'Jenny Wren'. I think potentially something on here for any jazz radio program/station".

SATURN QUARTET/Synchronicities: You duck into a restaurant to get out of the rain. There's a jazz combo playing the corner. You soon find them more interesting than the food, taking your drink and moseying down to the rail by the piano to get closer to it. Damn! What's the special sauce? What's the something extra? What the what?? That's exactly how this record makes you feel. Where did it come from and why is it so good? These cats should be at the top of every list.

***

Made up of four young players and composers who met during their time studying at the fabled FSU (Florida State University) Jazz Studies Program, Saturn Quartet is one of today's most electrifying new entries on the international jazz scene.

The combo proudly wears its reverence for the traditions of this storied American genre, but its members pride themselves on their collective passion for pushing the envelope into uncharted terrains.

The fact that they have both the nerve to treat their chosen material with such an open-hearted approach and the finely honed chops required to pull off subtly adventurous stylistic detours is a testament not only to each player's nascent mastery of their craft, but to the creative chemistry that exists between them all – a palpable relationship which is instantly obvious, even to casual listeners.

That chemistry and audacity is evident throughout all seven tracks on Saturn Quartet's brand-new debut album, "Synchronicities, " produced with great empathy and elan by the award-winning (and Grammy-nominated) rising jazz star Jamison Ross, and set for worldwide release on March 1, 2022.
