Simeon Davis Group's 2nd Single - "Pleiades"

Simeon Davis, Project Manager for Outside in Music prepared the second single, "Pleiades" from the Simeon Davis Group's upcoming album, "Of Narratives & Nocturnes". In addition to the music itself, we're excited to provide exclusive access to the original poetry that accompanies this track in the physical album as part of the album's holistic storytelling experience.

Like all the compositions on this album, "Pleiades" is completely through-composed. Combining elements of jazz, folk, partido alto, rumba, and classical music, this piece follows the Greek myth of the Pleiades, the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas.

Pleiades:

A star for each sister in sevenfold light
Unwillingly traversed in oceanic strife
When heroism's hand by chance they meet
The waves array in scarlet peaks
'Til father's arms once more they find
Fulfill the trial and hold the sky

Street Date: 4/1/2022

Radio add date: 3/28/2022

"Pleiades" uses varying scenes and soundscapes to follow the Greek myth of the Pleiades as they are kidnapped, ferried across the ocean, rescued by chance by Heracles, and returned to their father Atlas. Featuring uncommon timbral blends and solos by violinist Jess Meador and Davis himself, "Pleiades" is a musical tale full of drama, action, and interwoven melodic development.
