NIGERIA’S RISING STAR TIM LYRE TAPS NORTH LONDON’S LEX AMOR FOR ‘HUBRIS’

Nigeria's rising star Tim Lyre releases new single 'Hubris', a smoky boombap joint featuring North London's Lex Amor. It's the follow up to his highly regarded last release, the Lagos anthem 'Highlife' which featured Prettyboy DO and Lady Donli.

With support from BBC Radio 1Xtra, Native Mag, Triller, Guap Mag, Worldwide FM, Rinse FM, and Culture Custodian, Tim is gearing up for his highly anticipated debut album, 'Worry <' ('worry less'), set for release on March 4th on Outer South.

Nodding to Greek mythology, 'Hubris' is a track that aims to encourage confidence on its listeners; paired with a symbolic artwork of Icarus whose wings burned off from flying too close to the sun, Lyre plays on title's theme of excessive pride and arrogance.

Built over a laid-back and atmospheric production courtesy of Tim Lyre himself, he sets the tone with his nonchalant flow and slick pen game before later being joined alongside London's prodigy Lex Amor. Weaving her airy and effortless flow throughout the percussive beat, the pair compliment each other seamlessly on this hazy number.

Speaking on the single, Tim says, "Hubris is one of my personal favourites. It's a song to inspire confidence. I had been going through a period of self-doubt. This song kind of reminded me I was on the right path. Also, couldn't have asked for a better feature than Lex Amor, she was floating on the track."

Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, Tim Lyre is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist that's been paving a lane with his genre-bending sound, playing a monumental role in Nigeria's alté renaissance.
