What a Line-Up it is! A seven piece band dedicated to keeping the sounds and spirit of this music alive, Larry Moses' "Latin Jazz Express" is what happens when the sophisticated sounds of jazz mix it up with the red-hot Latin rhythms of Cuba, Puerto Rico and the streets of NYC. Conrad Herwig Herwig began a long association with Eddie Palmieri, a musical journey that continues to this day. He performed regularly as a member of Paquito D'Rivera's Quintet and larger ensembles such as the Dizzy Gillespie inspired United Nation Orchestra. He continues his now long-standing affiliation with the Mingus Big Band, where he has served as musical director and contributed as arranger, most notably on the 2008 GRAMMY-nominated Live at the Tokyo Blue Note (Sunnyside). An important mid-career affiliation was with the late saxophonist Joe Henderson, with whom he toured globally and spent time in the recording studio, contributing to projects such as Joe Henderson: Big Band (Verve; 1992), Porgy & Bess (Verve; 1999) and The Other Side of Joe Henderson (Universal; 2004), a posthumously released collection. write your comments about the article :: © 2022 Jazz News :: home page |
