| Denis Frajerman/Antoine Volodine | Variations Volodine Musician Denis Frajerman and author Antoine Volodine team up to release "Variations Volodine", a stunning box set including a 64 pages book together with 6 CDs. The collection is being released today, January 20, 2022, via french publisher La Volte. About The post-exotic universe in words and music The Volodine Variations set Antoine Volodine's prose poems to musical arrangements authored by Denis Frajerman. The writer's quill, by turns prophetic and incantatory, on the one hand, and the melodic enchantments of the musician-traveller on the other, together enhance the post-exotic universe at the heart of its poetic setting. This boxed set consists of six albums created by Denis Frajerman, as well as prose poems by Antoine Volodine. The whole is a labyrinth in which to become lost, with all the senses open to euphoria, bewitched by voices, among which at times is that of the writer himself. The author Antoine Volodine is the author of around forty novels written under heteronyms and appearing in the United States with publishers such as Open Letter, University of Nebraska Press and Dalkey Archive. He is notably the winner of the 1987 Grand prix de l'Imaginaire (for Rituel du mépris, which has not been published in English translation), of the 2000 Livre Inter Prize (for Des anges mineurs) (Minor Angels) and of the 2004 prix Médicis (for Terminus radieux (Terminus Radiant). The writer as devised a litterary movement : post-exoticism, inspired by the Bardo – a Tibetan word naming the intervals of life in which are mixed dreams and realities, reflections on solitude, madness, romantic faithfullness, the failure of revolutionary struggles... The musician Denis Frajerman made his debut as a composer for the band Palo Alto, before collaborating regularly with storytellers and writers in radio sessions or sound recordings. Intensely fond of the work of Antoine Volodine, he composed his first solo album Les Suites Volodine (The Volodine Suites) in 1998, which shares the writer's taste for ethereal atmospheres and enchantment. Des anges mineurs (Minor Angels) – a post exotic-oratorio-followed and Vocifèrations (Vociferations) a cantopera for eleven musicians. In 2015, he composed a live performance for 2 classical female singers, a cellist and a guitar called Terminus radieux, about a book of Volodine. In addition, Denis Frajerman composes soundtracks for the theatre, while being deeply influenced by the rhythms and melodies of the Balkan and the Middle East.
