| Jazz@TheFalcon | Sarah Perrotta's "Blue to Gold" | Thu Jan 6 SARAH PERROTTA'S "BLUE TO GOLD" ALBUM RELEASE THU JAN 6 7PM* | THE FALCON MAIN STAGE "Blue to Gold comes from that other universe, the one where choirs materialize and disappear, where armies of Eighties-flavored guitars percolate on top of global polyrhythms wrapped in delicate, expertly crimped and fluffed layers of synths, mellotron, strings, studio ambiance, and arrangements like geologic strata. - John Burdick, Hudson Valley One Featuring: Sarah Perrotta / Voice / Piano Jesse Towey / Bass Johnnie Wang / Guitar Manuel Quintana / Drums Sarah Perrotta Lifelong friends and musicians were enlisted to collaborate and enrich the textures of Perrotta's latest recording, Blue to Gold, including Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel), Sara Lee (Gang of Four, The B52s), Marc Shulman (Suzanne Vega), Bill Dillon (Robbie Robertson), string arrangement by Italian film composer Enzo DeRosa, Pamela Sue Mann (David Carbonara), Gerry Leonard (David Bowie), Heather Masse (The Wailin' Jennys), Daniel Weiss (Joan Osbourne) and Rupert Greenall (The Fixx). Singer, songwriter and pianist, Sarah's atmospheric piano-driven songs and emotive voice draw from an eclectic blend of classical, jazz, rock and experimental. Perrotta's first album Drink the Sky (2000) under the band name Outloud Dreamer, a duo with bassist/producer Carl Adami. She released The Well (2008) featuring renowned bassist Tony Levin (of King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, etc.) and the legendary Garth Hudson (of The Band) on accordion. The Well was mixed by Grammy award-winning producer Malcolm Burn. Following the release of The Well, Perrotta toured internationally with acts including Guster, Jason Colette of Broken Social Scene and The Barenaked Ladies. 2010 saw the release of Perrotta's third album Tonight (2010) featuring Tony Levin on bass, guitarist Johnnie Wang and drummer Will Olsen. "[Perotta] has upped her game with her new release. While the cover strikes a small resemblance to Roxy Music's 1972 sole self-titled debut, there is omething brilliant that she's unleashed on her lyrical structures." - Zachary Nathanson / Echos and Dust write your comments about the article :: © 2021 Jazz News :: home page |
