Sweet Megg and Ricky Alexander Appearing At Littlfield Brooklyn NY Friday, October 22nd 8 PM

Coming from very diverse backgrounds, both artists started performing together in New York City in 2014. While Ricky studied jazz since grade school, Megg's first love was early blues and Americana. She discovered jazz later in her twenties while studying jazz in Paris. After a year abroad and gigging around France, she returned to NYC and formed her jazz band, The Wayfarers. They performed frequently at the popular Mona's jazz bar in the East Village, where she eventually met and hired saxophonist Ricky Alexander. At the time, Ricky was also leading his own band, The Early Bird Jazz Band, and successfully touring. Their musical collaboration got the attention of Scott Asen, owner of Turtle Bay Records, who encouraged the two to record together, and their debut album, I'm in Love Again, was born.

SWEET MEGG
Sweet Megg (Meaghan Farrell) is a New York City bred vocalist who performs a range of material steeped in the American traditions of jazz and blues. She splits her time between Nashville and Brooklyn where she performs early jazz, blues, Western swing, classic country, and her original Americana. Her recent record, Under the Moonlight was released in March 2020 on Dala Records. Her vocals reveal a vast variety of influences, ranging from Billie Holiday to Patsy Cline to Edith Piaf to Bessie Smith. Sweet Megg has been seen lighting up stages with her band The Wayfarers around the eastern United States for the last six years. She recently expanded her fanbase internationally with a run of acclaimed concerts in France and Russia.

RICKY ALEXANDER
After pursuing a B.A. degree in jazz at the University of Maryland, Ricky Alexander began exploring the clarinet, in addition to fine tuning his primary instrument, the saxophone. He has performed at The Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Strathmore Performing Arts Center, and many other prestigious and historic venues. Since moving to New York in 2012 and earning a masters degree in jazz performance from New York University, Ricky has become extremely busy as a sideman and makes his living solely off performing. He regularly plays with and has recorded with some of the most renowned jazz artists in NYC, including Grammy Award-winning Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, The Louis Armstrong Eternity Band, Glenn Crytzer Orchestra and the legendary ragtime pianist Terry Waldo, among others.

New York City-based jazz artists Sweet Megg and Ricky Alexander team up to release their debut album as a duo, I'm in Love Again, an amalgam of Sweet Megg's love of country, blues and Western swing and Ricky's lifelong love of jazz.
The album is out now on Turtle Bay Records.
