GARY LUCAS 40th ANNIVERSARY SHOW @ LE POISSON ROUGE NYC SAT. SEPT. 11th / GARY LUCAS MASTERCLASS SEPT. 16th, 17th and 18th

On Saturday Sept. 11th 2021, GARY LUCAS celebrates 40 years of innovative music with an all-star show at NYC's LE POISSON ROUGE. GODS

Gary will perform solo, duos, and with his longtime psychedelic jazz-rock supergroup GODS AND MONSTERS, with selections ranging over his 35-plus multi-genre album catalogue, from Beefheart to Buckley and Beyond-including original songs, 30's Chinese pop, classical, film music and more.

GODS AND MONSTERS features ERNIE BROOKS (Modern Lovers) bass, JERRY HARRISON (Talking Heads) keyboards, RICHARD DWORKIN (Fast 'N' Bulbous) drums, and JASON CANDLER (Hungry March Band) keyboards.

Special guests include THURSTON MOORE (Sonic Youth) guitar, TRIXIE WHITLEY singing"Grace" (the JEFF BUCKLEY anthem co-written by Gary), and vocalists RICHARD BARONE (The Bongos), FELICE ROSSER (Faith) and EMILY DUFF (Emily Duff Band).

Doora are at 7pm. The show runs from 8-10pm.

LE POISSON ROUGE is located at 158 Bleecker Street in Manhattan.

On Sept. 16th, 17th, and 18th 2021, Gary Lucas is giving an online MASTERCLASS for all interested guitarists.

Topics include open tunings, slide guitar, the craft of songwriting, improvisational techniques, the progressive process of collaboration, how to overcome creative blocks, and more.

Over the years, Lucas has taught and lectured at his alma mater Yale University, Columbia University, Rutgers University, the University of Hawaii, the Amsterdam Music Conservatorium, the New School, the Henri Dutilleux Conservatoire de la Musique outside Paris, and elsewhere.
