SINGER KATHERINE FARNHAM’S “LOVE PHILOSOPHY”WINS 7 GLOBAL MUSIC AWARDS

Billboard-charting, multiple award-winning, and internationally acclaimed jazz singer, songwriter, pianist Katherine 'KOOL KAT" Farnham has won a Global Music Award for her new album "Love Philosophy". Six album singles have also won awards. With a four-octave voice and world-class piano and songwriting chops she is much more than a triple threat artist. She is a woman of true character who has inspired fans, critics, students and legendary artists. With this new international project, she serenades listeners with beautiful originals and standards in English, Spanish and Portuguese, proving she is an artist with an amazing heritage, an exciting present and a future as bright as the stars. The award-winning record combines elements of jazz, Latin jazz, adult contemporary, Broadway, soul, and fusion.

The third-generation musician has recorded with Grammy winner and legendary saxophonist Kirk Whalum, and Latin Grammy winner Nestor Torres, and for this album teams up with Blues Hall of Famer and Grammy winner Darrell Leonard and Grammy Nominees Denny Jiosa and Mindi Abair. The album has a message relevant for our times.

In the last few years, Kat has won over a staggering ten music awards, including being one of the youngest recipients of the Albert Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. (Other recipients include Colin Powell, Wonder Woman entertainer Lynda Carter and actress Dee Wallace.) She also won Los Angeles Music Award Nominations for "Best Jazz Artist" and "Americana: Blues & Roots Artist" and was selected as the "Best Female Singer/Songwriter" in the quarter century history of Los Angeles Music Awards and also won a Las Vegas Counter Culture Award for "Best Jazz Performer" among others. For the "Love Philosophy" album, she earned Global Music Awards for "Jazz/Emerging Artist" and "Jazz/Blues Song" as well as four awards for "Female Vocalist" (English and Spanish) and one for "Songwriter".

Farnham has earned comparisons to Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Sarah Vaughan and Diana Krall. She's not just a brilliant vocalist, but also a classically-trained pianist and entertainer of the finest caliber. She started playing piano and at the age of four, writing her first song during a family road trip. Six months later she was the leading actress in a school play and soon after she performed her first jazz vocal solo.

Farnham has been called "one of the top artists of our time" by Brazilian journalist and Latin Grammy consultant Toninho Spessoto. Jazz Weekly calls her voice "rich and strongly confident." The Smooth Jazz Ride says "This is one artist who solidly and easily distinguishes herself from the run-of-the-mill vocalists and musicians. Farnham takes us on a dazzling and delightful musical journey to a land of cool, sexy and suave."

Farnham's father was a musician/arranger who toured as first trombonist with The Boston Pops and her mother was a concert pianist, composer, vocal coach and former Director of New England Conservatory's Wellesley Branch. She personally trained her daughter for over a decade. This tutelage went in a direct pedagogical line from Katherine to her mother, to her mother's teacher European concert artist Madame Dayas, to Dayas parents and then to legendary concert pianist/ composer Franz Liszt. "For years I had no idea that my musical legacy led directly back to this incredible artist. Once this sunk in, I woke up and started to pay attention."

With this kind of artistic and pedagogical heritage, it is no surprise that Farnham eventually made the piano a central focus. Assembling a multiple Grammy-winning production team, she recorded "Love Philosophy" on not one, but three world-class Steinway grand pianos. Combining originals with well-loved jazz and theater standards like "Besame Mucho", Billie Holiday's "Good Morning Heartache", and the smash Broadway hit "People, A Tribute to Barbra Streisand (feat Mindi Abair)", Farnham has created a world-class work. This album speaks lyrically of spiritual love with the title track and single "Dreams (feat Denny Jiosa)" and also true romantic love with "Night of Romance", a honest, heartfelt ballad complete with string section for which she won the Global Music Award as a songwriter.

She has appeared on Good Morning America, NBC 6, Telemundo and toured throughout the US and abroad. She has performed at festivals including the Hub City Jazz Festival in New Jersey, and on stages with Latin jazz greats Tito Puente Jr and Celia Cruz. She has even inspired audiences with her courage at major sporting events such as the Ericsson Open (only female artist), the Miami Marathon and national dates for NASCAR. The critically acclaimed, groundbreaking 'Vintage' album garnered interview requests and airplay in US, Canada, Europe, South America and Africa along with standing ovation and sold out live performances. In recognition of her considerable contributions to the genre, "Vintage" was also added to the prestigious jazz archives at the Mediatheque Musicale de Paris, France.

Farnham has had to overcome tremendous adversity to bring her music to the world. But in so doing, it has fueled a passion to create music that touches people in a universal way. It has also birthed a true humanitarian who is just as passionate about standing up for others in need. From mentoring inner city kids in Compton and Los Angeles, to providing transitional housing for the homeless, rescuing pets, supporting veterans and organizing six benefit concerts in Los Angeles and Miami supporting music education and ethnic unity, Farnham is a woman who consistently goes the extra mile.

The values expressed on "Love Philosophy" integrate perfectly with the needs of international audiences right now as well as with Farnham's humanitarian endeavors. A passionate educator, she has been invited to teach both Piano, and Jazz/Music Theater Voice at several universities and is also a published author. She served for two consecutive years as Celebrity Voice Judge for the Los Angeles Music Center's Annual Spotlight Awards, alongside several Broadway stars.

Farnham and her longtime band have recorded and performed in world- class venues throughout the nation. She graduated with highest honors from Boston's acclaimed Berklee College of Music and earned her Master's from the University of Miami.
