ANDTHEM
THE SCOTT WENDHOLT/ADAM KOLKER QUARTET
WITH VICTOR LEWIS AND UGONNA OKEGWO

"Scott Wendholt and Adam Kolker are among the most consistently rewarding improvisers in jazz" – Thomas Conrad / Stereophile

ANDTHEM, unites two strikingly imaginative and resourceful jazz stylists – the trumpeter Scott Wendholt and the tenor saxophonist Adam Kolker – with two of the most respected rhythm section giants of the era: - the bassist Ugonna Okegwo and the drummer Victor Lewis - on a debut recording that captures the collective strengths of a compelling new ensemble.

Sharing compositional duties and emphasizing group interplay, the quartet responds as a cooperative unit, making clear that the "andthem" element is as integral as the horn-playing co-leaders in solidifying the group's identity. Memorable originals by each group member, including Wendholt's Beatles-infused "Lucy" and arrestingly minimal "And Them"; Lewis' stark ballad, "Buttercup"; and Okegwo's rhythmically-shifting "Once Or Twice" seamlessly co- exist with Kolker's imaginative reworkings of Thelonious Monk's "Green Chimneys" and Charlie Parker's contrapuntal masterpiece, "Ah-Leu-Cha."
