About the artists:
Dave Wilson is a jazz saxophonist, recording artist, band leader, composer, and educator in the Central PA/ Delaware Valley area, with an active venue and festival schedule as both a leader of his own groups and as a sideman. The Dave Wilson Quartet offers high caliber, compelling, contemporary Jazz music with top notch, nationally and internationally known personnel known for their exciting improvisations, creative individualistic compositions, and unique arrangements of standards. Dave's aim is to further and bring to fruition the music and vision of Dave Wilson, the artist. Defying categorization, the music is "what sounds good, is what is true to our artistic vision, and can communicate with the audience on a deep level...it's jazz". Wilson has worked with the likes of pianists Mark Soskin, Jim Ridl, Phil Markowitz, Bobby Avey, Kirk Reese; bassists Tony Marino, Blake Meister; drummers Adam Nussbaum, Bill Goodwin, Dan Monaghan, Frank Russo, and Marko Marcinko. He has also shared the stage with the likes of Tim Warfield, Steve Giordano, Wynton Marsalis, Tom Harrell, Lou Soloff (BS & T), the late Steve Marcus, Conrad Herwig, Gary Smulyan, Steve Smith (from Journey), among others.

Dave Wilson's third recording Spiral, featured internationally known personnel, Phil Markowitz on Piano, Tony Marino on Bass, and Adam Nussbaum on Drums, was released nationally on the Summit Records label in June 2010. It achieved "Chartbound" status in the Jazz Weekly countdown, topping at #51 nationwide, and received many positive reviews including those in national publications Downbeat (3 1/2 stars) and Jazz Times.

The Dave Wilson Quartet's fourth release There Was Never (ZOHO Music), featured an all-star lineup of Bobby Avey-Piano, Tony Marino-Bass, Alex Ritz-Drums (members of the Dave Liebman Group), for 6 weeks in 2016 was in the top 50 of the nation-wide Jazz Weekly Jazz Radio Countdown, reaching a high of #18 in the nation, received 3 stars in the February 2016 issue of Downbeat Magazine, and was nominated for a Grammy award!

One Night at Chris' (Dave Wilson Music) is the fifth release of The Dave Wilson Quartet, recorded live at the famous Chris' Jazz Cafe 'in Philadelphia and released in the summer of 2019. Featuring Dave on Tenor and Soprano Saxophones and his working band of Kirk Reese – Piano (East Coast Legend); Tony Marino - Acoustic Bass, Dan Monaghan – Drums (Legendary Philadelphia drummer). From writer Bill Milkowski. "The crackling intensity of One Night at Chris' is a testament to what can happen on the bandstand on any given night. And this was a particularly good night indeed." In rotation nationwide over the summer and achieving "Chartbound" status (top 50 in the nation), on jazz radio, and garnering positive reviews, One Night at Chris is perhaps Dave's greatest work, yet! The album made the WRTI-FM, Philadelphia Jazz Radio Station "Jazz Album of the Week", the week of August 26the 2019.

Watch for the new live recording Stretching Supreme, due this summer, featuring some unique and exciting extended live takes on some John Coltrane selections, among others.

Kirk Reese is one of the leading jazz pianists on the East Coast and beyond. He has been an active part of the jazz scene in Pennsylvania for thirty years. He has performed with numerous notable jazz artists including alto saxophonist Phil Woods, trumpeter Marvin Stamm, Russian trumpeter Valery Ponomarev, Tim Warfield Jr, Ralph Moore, Billy Higgins, "Blue Lou" Marini and jazz violinist John Blake.

Reese is also a nationally recognized educator and has been on the music faculty at Messiah College since 1993, teaching jazz improvisation & piano. In that time has established a culture of small-group jazz that has enhanced the department, reinforced the big bands, and has been the catalyst for many students developing a life-long appreciation for the art form. He is a clinician for many venues, including improvisation workshops throughout the region. He also serves as an artist/faculty member for the Central PA Friends of Jazz Camp at Messiah College.

His bands have opened for Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, BB King, Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck), Bob Mintzer (Yellow Jackets), and others. He attended Elizabethtown College and studied piano, music theory and composition privately with Ron Thomas in Philadelphia and jazz theory with Steve Giordano and Cedar Walton. He also maintains a private teaching schedule in Elizabethtown & York, PA.

Twice nominated for a Grammy, he is active in the recording studio, playing on & writing for, along with acclaimed flutist brother Tom, TRP (The Reese Project's) 10 recordings as well as many others, including his own critically acclaimed efforts, one being his critically acclaimed trio recording Impressions, released in 2015 on Vectordisc and featuring Steve Meashey on Bass, and Jeff Stabley on Drums.

Blake Meister: Described as a musician with "wit, soul and an organic-sounding complexity that only a master can pull off" (Giovanni Russonello; CapitalBop, New York Times), Blake Meister has performed around the world. He has joined a range of virtuoso musicians, including:

Gary Thomas, Larry Willis, Katharine McPhee, Mýa, Marc Copland, David Kikoski, Gary Bartz, Steve Davis, Warren Wolf, Ahn Sook Sun, Buddy Wachter, Paul Bollenback, Eddie Henderson, Ingrid Jensen, Jeremy Pelt, Sean Jones, Jack DeJohnette, Louis Hayes, Victor Lewis, Ralph Peterson, Dennis Chambers, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Nasheet Waits, among others.

Touring and recording with Larry Willis, in his Heavy Blue band, Blake developed in the modern jazz tradition. He appears on Willis' final outing, I Fall in Love Too Easily, on HighNote records. Blake honed his style and musical dialect working regularly with Gary Thomas, including Thomas' large ensemble, Pariah's Pariahs. He appears on Thomas' album At Risk, on Inner Circle Music, for which he also wrote the liner notes.

Also on Inner Circle, Blake released his debut as a leader, Septagon, to critical acclaim. Both CapitalBop and the Washington City Paper named it Album of the Year. He is a regular member of the Baltimore Jazz Collective, with trumpeter Sean Jones. The group was recently profiled in JazzTimes magazine. In 2016, he recorded for a PBS feature on immersive sound. He is a bassist for the American Studio Orchestra (a multi-media ensemble) and has been a member of several traditional orchestras.

Blake was a finalist in the Bass Europe competition and in the International Society of Bassists competition. He received Governor's Citations from Maryland, garnering three Individual Artist Awards from the Maryland State Arts Council – for composition in 2018 and 2012, and for performance in 2015.

Sharing music through education, Meister served on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory of Music – the nation’s oldest conservatory – for a decade, teaching lessons and courses. Before that, he began on faculty and as program director for the Peabody Preparatory division. There, he founded a robust, productive jazz department. Today, he is building community through teaching, as classical bass faculty at Northern Virginia Community College and a Strings Teaching Artist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Orchkids.

Mansfield, PA, native Dan Monaghan (Drums) is one of the busiest drummers in the Philadelphia area. After studying classical percussion for eight years, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies from Temple University. Since then, he has performed with some of the top names in jazz, including Eric Alexander, Peter Bernstein, Uri Caine, and Randy Brecker. In addition, he has recorded with Dick Oatts, Garry Dial, Joe Magnarelli, Jimmy Bruno, Elio Villafranca, Joanna Pascale, John Vanore & Abstract Truth, Larry McKenna, Jon Lundbom & Big Five Chord, Norman David, Tom Tallitsch, Mike Kennedy, and many others.
