JEFF COLELLA – “LOVE MUSIC” – New EBOOK

Description: "Love Music" is a book by acclaimed pianist Jeff Colella about how we hear, learn and understand music. While Jeff does discuss ideas specific to jazz music and improvisation, the book is about musical concepts that transcend style. The goal of this work is for the reader to gain a deeper understanding of music and a broader, more conceptual perspective that will aid in playing, teaching and developing one's own musical voice.Since this book is conceptual (with very little notation), it is applicable to all instruments, so dig in and get started on your musical journey! NOTE: This is an ebook and there are no hard cover options available at this time.

Jeff Colella is one of LA's busiest jazz pianists. Besides performing in concert as a solo artist, with his trio and with bassist Putter Smith, he maintains a very active schedule as an accompanist, musical director, recording artist, arranger, composer, clinician and educator.

Jeff has toured the world with numerous artists over the course of his notable career. He has released three trio recordings, "Alone Together", "Letting Go" and "So Tender", as well as his most recent recording "Lotus Blossom", a critically acclaimed duo recording with world renowned bassist Putter Smith, that was named to the top ten in the NPR 2014 Jazz Critics Poll. We were named number three in that poll.

His compositions have been recorded by several artists, most recently by the noted saxophonist Bob Sheppard, who performed two of Jeff's pieces, "All In A Row" and "Lightness" on his latest BFM CD "Close Your Eyes". Another recent release, on Summit Records is "The Shakespeare Project" by vocalist Deborah Shulman. Jeff served as pianist, arranger, producer, and composed two pieces for the project as well. Other recent releases include three recordings by vocalist Susan Kohler, "My Romance", "wide open heart" the songs of Rupert Wates, and a Christmas recording called "Songs of the Season".

Jeff currently holds faculty positions at the Musicians Institute and the World Mission University.
