Flushing Town Hall Presents Lioness: Virtual Women in Jazz Concert Series - Part 1: Amanda Monaco and her Glitter Quartet

Flushing Town Hall and Convergence Arts present Lioness: Women in Jazz Concert Series. The first of this three-concert/Q&A series features guitarist/composer Amanda Monaco and her Glitter Quartet including Lauren Sevian (baritone saxophone), Brian Charette (Hammond organ), and Jeff Davis (drums). While the name of the Quartet sounds cutesy, the conversation is anything but. The music Amanda has written for this quartet is based on her long-term relationship with Lauren, her experiences as a female instrumentalist in the music business, and all of the life experiences along the way. It's equal parts serious, introspective, and whimsical. Amanda has performed at venues such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, Jazz Standard, and Flushing Town Hall, and with artists such as Milt Hinton, Steve Wilson, Rufus Reid, and the Mingus Orchestra. She has released six albums to date and her "playing is utterly unique, a breath of fresh air in the cookie-cutter climes of both mainstream and free jazz (NYC Jazz Record)." Tune in to YouTube on October 18 at 2:30 PM for a free pre-recorded streaming performance, taped just for this event, followed by a LIVE Q&A with Amanda Monaco and Lauren Sevian.
