Instrumental Jazz CD of the Month - Julien Hucq: Light Blue
Arnaldo DeSouteiro, Jazz Station (U.S.)

JAZZIZ Weekly Discover Playlist, January 2020 (U.S.)

Belgian saxophonist, composer and arranger Julien Hucq has made a superlative, grooving CD, "Light Blue".
Steve Monroe, Jazz Avenues (U.S.)

"Light Blue is an impressive album: its ensembles simultaneously tight and graceful, its solos expressive."
Michael Ullman, The Arts Fuse (U.S.)

"This is a delightful straight-ahead CD by alto saxophonist Julien Hucq."
Norman Vickers, Jazz Pensacola (U.S.)

"Employing the line-up of these iconic musicians, how can reedman, Julien Hucq, present us with anything but a powerful and enjoyable project? … Julien Hucq's alto saxophone glides through the changes… like warm honey, sweet and fluid during his solo."
Dee Dee McNeil, Musicalmemoirs (blog) (U.S.)

"This disc is magnificent."
Jacques Muyal, co-founder of Laser Swing Productions (Switzerland)

"Hucq makes timeless jazz, the CD was recorded in March 2019, but could have come from the sixties or seventies…
Hucq has a delicious cork-dry sound without vibrato, old-fashioned and beautiful, and he plays fluently like mercury silver.
His sound is even reminiscent of the young Charlie Mariano of the early fifties."
