| Uptown Jazz Tentet New Release - What's Next - Release Date TODAY Oct. 1st! In the Jazz Capital of the World, the Uptown Jazz Tentet offers a swingin' and powerful new release What's Next (Irabbagast Records). The seasoned group is collectively led by a trio of brass masters including Brandon Lee (trumpet) and trombonists Willie Applewhite and James Burton III. The 10-piece sophisticated powerhouse hit the ground running with this one, which is released today! New York City is a breeding ground for the best jazz players in the world. The cream rises to the top as we find the Uptown Jazz Tentet shifting through a beautiful and expressive set of originals and jazz classics, including In A Sentimental Mood and Infant Eyes. Smoothly riding through moments of soft, fleeting horns to that big, bad brass blast that a group of trumpets, trombones and saxophones render, the release is one to put on, sit back and enjoy the ride. We even hear the simple, yet powerful spirit of Count Basie. The album displays a depth of range, spanning fiery bebop, tender waltzes, swinging blues, and a touch of the avant-garde. "What's Next is an album about optimism and artistic beauty in the face of adversity, " say the leaders of the UJT. "We believe that progress depends on optimism, and optimism will always lead to joy. It's that feeling of joy that we brought to this album, and a desire to leave with the listener. As a result, we don't view What's Next as a question, but as a message of hope."
