Roswell Rudd The late, great American trombonist, Roswell Rudd (1935 – 2017) celebrated his 81st birthday at The Falcon with Fay Victor, Ken Filiano and Lafayette Harris These great musicians have had the long-term advantage of playing music together for many years. They have the sound of a band - musicians who know and hear each other so well. Four distinct personalities coming together to celebrate in concert! Roswell Rudd Grammy nominated player and, for the fifth time, The Jazz Journalists Association's 2014 TROMBONIST OF THE YEAR. His Sunnyside release TROMBONE FOR LOVERS was voted One of the 10 Best of 2013 by NPR, The Boston Globe, and numerous blogs. At 81, Rudd still likes his moniker "The Incredible Honk of Kerhonkson". Fay Victor Vocalist/composer Fay Victor, called "artistically complete" by the New York Times, consistently hones a unique vision of the vocalist's role in jazz and improvised music. A multi-genre approach called "Freesong". Victor's eight critically acclaimed recordings as a leader has been praised by the music press worldwide. Victor performs and teaches internationally with a veritable who's-who of musicians such as Aruan Ortiz, Andrew Cyrille, Henry Threadgill and John Medeski, among others. Lafayette Harris An important pianist in the NYC music scene, sharing the stage with jazz artists Houston Person, Ernestine Anderson, and Roswell Rudd and hosting his own events at well-known NYC venues - The Lenox Lounge, The Blue Note and Smalls. Lafayette has played with, arranged, and was the last pianist, for the great Max Roach, one of the inventors of modern jazz, as well as the world's greatest drummer. Ken Filiano Ken Filiano performs worldwide with leading artists in jazz, fusing the rich traditions of the double bass with his limitless inventiveness. Ken's solo bass CD, NineWinds, received widespread critical praise. Ken has been called a creative virtuoso, a master of technique, who can play anything, because he puts the music first and leaves peripheral considerations behind.
