MoonJune Records needs Your voting help: 84th Annual DownBeat Magazine Readers Poll (2019)

Dear Friends In Music.

The 84th Annual DownBeat Magazine Readers Poll (2019) is finally on. MoonJune Records, a truly independent one-man-run out-of-box record label, has landed on the 3rd place at the Poll in 2018, improving the 4th placement in 2017 and 7th placement in 2016.

The way the polling is set up, there are many categories you must navigate through, prior to arriving at CATEGORY 31: RECORD LABEL. Please be patient and once there, please cast your vote for MoonJune Records! (We are now listed for several years — no longer a "write-in vote!")

By voting for MoonJune, friends, you not only support a steadfastly independent record label, and associated albums and artists (released between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019, it should be noted); you support the label's entire roster. Please — I ask that you make the effort and show your love and support of a true underdog and a "Don-Quixotesque" independent music business, during this most difficult period in the music recording industry.

Obviously, there are still a plethora of quality record labels still in operation, despite uncertainty and greatly reduced revenues. Your vote for MoonJune means a lot to the label, its industry status, label's brave, talented and courageous roster, and to me, personally.

And please vote for the legendary ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, a very special friend with whom I was associated for 15 years. Please vote for Allan in the category HALL OF FAME, which is the very first category to vote for. And please vote in the category HISTORICAL ALBUM *Released June 1, 2018 - May 31, 2019) for Allan's seminal 'Live in Japan 1984', released on Manifesto Records.

MoonJune Records & MoonJune Music (booking and management) wouldn't be the same without the legacy of the legendary SOFT MACHINE. Many of followers of the MoonJune world know my Soft Machine story which I have started back in 2000 as a dream with my old friend, the late great and legendary British saxophonist Elton Dean. And the dream came true. SOFT WORKS 2002-2004, which became SOFT MACHINE LEGACY (2004-2015) which became de facto SOFT MACHINE again in 2015, and it always was SOFT MACHINE and about SOFT MACHINE. Please vote for SOFT MACHINE and its current members JOHN ETHERIDGE, JOHN MARSHALL, ROY BABBINGTON and THEO TRAVIS. And with Your gesture You are also honoring 3 legends who are not among us anymore, who were part of this SOFT MACHINE adventure: ELTON DEAN (1945-2006), HUGH HOPPER (1945-2009) and ALLAN HOLDSWORTH (1946-2017)..

In addition to all of you, there were also many great MoonJune Records related artists who gave me the necessary strength, support and encouragement to keep going. So, the quest for absolute philosophical and musical freedoms continues! MoonJune continues, unabated: operating outside of boundaries, and beyond any implied rules, protocols and impediments dictated by the corporate world! (… whose insatiable lusts have ruined not only the music industry, but inflicted physical, spiritual and financial damage upon much of the world, as a whole … but don't get me started ...).
