| CMA honors the AACM Chamber Music America, (CMA) Honors Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) Internationally renowned for its contributions to modern music, the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) has been an inspirational leader within the cultural community for more than fifty years. The AACM will be honored with the Richard J. Bogomolny National Service Award at CMA's 2019 National Conference, Building Equitable Communities on Sunday January 20, 2019. Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, saxophonist, flutist, and longtime AACM member Henry Threadgill will appear in conversation with Larry Blumenfeld, jazz and culture reporter for The Wall Street Journal. AACM members Amina Claudine Myers (solo piano) and The AACM Trio (Adegoke Steve Colson, piano; Reggie Nicholson, drums; and Ernest Dawkins, alto saxophone) will perform. The Award will be presented to Ernest Dawkins from the Chicago Chapter and Richarda Abrams from the New York City Chapter.
