LLP Clients & Friends in NY During APAP, Winter Jazz Fest & Jazz Congress 2019

Lydia Liebman Promotions is very proud to announce that a whole host of our clients will make appearances throughout the periods of APAP, Winter Jazz Fest and Jazz Congress, between January 4th - 12th, 2019. The full list of performances is included below and features vocalist Vanessa Rubin, violinist Zach Brock, pianist Andy Milne, saxophonist Dave Liebman, bassist Richie Goods, husband & wife duo The Baylor Project, drummer Ralph Peterson Jr., harpist Brandee Younger and trumpeter Keyon Harrold!

Vanessa Rubin
@ Mezzrow Jazz Club

Vocalist Vanessa Rubin makes her return to Mezzrow for a weekend with her quartet: John Cowherd (piano), Kenny Davis (bass), Carl Allen (drums). Doors at 7:00pm. $25 walk-in music charge for this show, one drink minimum. While not a release show for her forthcoming album The Dream Is You, Vanessa will perform a few selections from the record in the trio setting.

Andy Milne w/ La Tanya Hall @ Gail Boyd's 2019 APAP Showcase

La Tanya Hall's new album "Say Yes" [Sunnyside Records, 2019] is a tour de force, reimagining classic songs from the jazz and contemporary canon. She has a way of getting inside of a lyric and taking the listener on an exciting journey. Joined by Andy Milne on piano, John Hébert on bass, Clarence Penn on drums, Ms. Hall is a consummate storyteller.

Richie Goods & The Goods Project @ Gail Boyd's 2019 APAP Showcase

The band will be playing acoustic and electric songs from Richie's last release "three rivers" and also new grooving arrangements of some Mulgrew Miller tunes from Richie's upcoming record. Line-up: Iman-Grace Cooper (vocals), Tom Guarna (guitar), Terry Brewer (keyboards), Richie Goods (bass), Lil' John Roberts (drums).

Along with long time Liebman bassist, Tony Marino and drummer Alex Ritz, the repertoire delves into the free music realm as well as the complex time signatures and harmonies being explored by the young artists of our time featuring original compositions and re-worked standards from the jazz repertoire. Line-up: Liebman, Marino and Ritz are joined by Bobby Avey (piano/keyboards) and Matt Vashlishan (alto sax, flute, clarinet).

The Baylor Project @ Blue Note

Their first performance in NYC in a year, 2X GRAMMY -nominated duo, Jean and Marcus Baylor are excited to perform selections off of their critically acclaimed debut The Journey. Joining the duo will be their long-standing backing band consisting of Terry Brewer on piano, Richie Goods on bass, Keith Loftis on soprano and tenor saxophone and Freddie Hendrix on trumpet and flugelhorn. Tickets are $25.

Andy Milne & Unison @ Gail Boyd's 2019 APAP Showcase

During his vast career, pianist/composer Andy Milne has demonstrated boundless versatility, collaborating with artists spanning jazz, classical, pop, folk, and world music. "Unison", his trio featuring bassist John Hebert & drummer Clarence Penn, skillfully explores the intersection of colorful melody, exotic texture and hypnotic groove. This spring they'll record Milne's debut on the ECM label.

This year's Keynote Session at Jazz Congress will be devoted to Art Blakey's continued centennial celebrations. To mark this momentous occasion, a whole host of Jazz Messenger members will reconvene onstage for a once-in-a-lifetime reunion to discuss Blakey's leadership, mentorship, and contribution to music. Peterson will join Joanne Brackeen, Randy Brecker, Donald Brown, Steve Davis, Leon Lee Dorsey, Essiet Essiet, Kevin Eubanks, Jon Faddis, Benny Green, Billy Harper, Donald Harrison, Eddie Henderson, Vincent Herring, Harold Mabern, Wynton Marsalis, Bill Pierce, Lonnie Plaxico, Wallace Roney and Bobby Watson.
