| Aretha's Jazz Cafe Presents Latin Jazz All Stars Aretha's Jazz Café is proud to once again present Latin Jazz All Stars, arguably the finest aggregation of Latin Jazz musicians in the world, for one incredible night, Saturday, January 12th at 8:00PM M.F. Production's Latin Jazz All Stars are a phenomenal ensemble that features the current masters of Afro Cuban, Salsa, Brazilian, and Latin Jazz. Jimmy Bosh, Pete, Escovedo, Chembo Corniel, Claudia Acuna, Nestor Torres, Elio Villa Franca, David Champagne, Yunior Terry & Diego Lopez take the stage as one unit to render an evening of brilliant music! The ensemble has performed to sold out crowds and packed houses all over the country. This "super band" features no leader; the particpants share the spotlight and showcase each other! Emperor of Salsa Dura, trombonist, Jimmy Bosch is loved and respected by Salseros the world over. Recorded on over 100 productions as a solo artist in his 45 year career, Jimmy has worked with such greats as Ray Barretto, Ruben Blades. Eddie Palmieri, Cachao, FANIA Allstars, Celia Cruz and more. His fiery and melodic trombone solos, his lyrics, and ability to entertain and transmit energy puts him in the Royal Court of the hearts of all Salseros worlwide. Néstor Torres has recorded 13 Cds to date. His 5th & 7th records, Treasure of the Heart and My Latin Soul, were nominated for a Latin Grammy, and his production This Side Of Paradise won the Latin Grammy award in the Pop instrumental category on September 11, 2001. Chilean singer/songwriter/arranger Claudia Acuna possesses one of the most beautiful and compelling voices in jazz and creative music. Her music crosses language barriers to communicate with power and deep feeling. She has recorded for Verve Records, MAXJAZZ and the Marsalis Music label., Acuña has also recorded and toured with a host of performers including George Benson, Joey Calderazzo, Billy Childs, Roy Hargrove, Tom Harrell, Christian McBride, Danilo Perez and Pablo Ziegler. Pete Escovedo has had a exciting career as one of the nation's top percussionist. As a member of the Escovedo Brothers Latin Jazz Band; Pete bedazzled audiences and stitched his name into the tapestry of "Modern Latin Jazz". Elio Villafranca is at the forefront of the latest generation of remarkable Cuban pianists, composers and band leaders that for several years has been making major creative contributions to the international development of modern jazz. In the 2010 Grammy Awards he was nominated in Best Latin Jazz Album of the Year, for his performance, composition and co-production of Chembo Corniel's album, "Things I Wanted To Do". Elio is now an official Steinway Artist. Conga-player, Chembo Corniel divides his performance time between his two musical loves: Latin jazz and "old-fashioned salsa that swings." He made waves this year garnering a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album, for "Things I Wanted To Do". Yunior Terry is a bassist's bassist! He was born in Camaguey, Cuba and is the youngest son of Cuba's famous Terry family. After studying with Charlie Haden, Rajeev Taranath and Alfred Ladzekpo he moved to New York City where he became one of the premier bassist for Latin, Afro Cuban & World music. Diego Lopez began playing Drums at age 11. By age 15, he was working professionally. In 2000, he established himself on New York's music scene. He has worked and toured with many artists including Hilton Ruiz, Paquito D' Rivera, Giovanni Hidalgo and Gato Barbieri. Combined these talented musicians have played with an enormous range of greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Candido, Art Blakey, Grover Washington, Max Roach, Paquito D'Rivera, Paul Simon and Dionne Warwick just to name a few.
