These are real stories told directly to Haney, transcribed and brought to life with a sound track by Andrew Cyrille, bassist Adam Lane and friends. Andrew Cyrille, (born.Brooklyn, NY) studied at Julliard and. Hartnett schools of music emerging to professional gigs. with such noted legends as Mary Lou Williams, and. Coleman Hawkins. He joined the Cecil Taylor unit in 1964, and stayed for about 10 years, eventually performing drum duos with Milford Graves. In addition to recording as a bandleader, he has recorded and/or performed with musicians such as David Murray, Irčne Schweizer, Marilyn Crispell, Carla Bley, Butch Morris and Reggie Workman among others. Cyrille is currently a member of the group, Trio 3, with Oliver Lake and Reggie Workman. Andrew has two new albums of ECM. "A great drummer; a fine writer; and a wonderful bandleader; you pass him by at your peril."-The Penguin Guide to Jazz DAVID HANEY studied composition with Czech American composer Tomas Svoboda and piano with jazz pianist Eddie Wied. As music editor for Cadence Magazine, David interviewed over 60 jazz artists for the Jazz Stories project.
