| Kenny Carr - Departure - feat: McCaslin, Wollesen and Glawischnig Guitarist Kenny Carr presents Departure, his sixth album of original music. Release date 1 November 2018. Kenny Carr is a classically trained guitar player and composer living in New York City. Carr performs his original jazz, blues, funk and fusion instrumental music in a trio, quartet and other sized ensemble settings. Carr has published five previous albums recorded in New York with notable musicians such as: Donny McCaslin, Kenny Wollesen, Hans Glawischnig, George Laks, Andy Hess, Tony Mason and others. Carr attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. In his final year he got the call to audition for Ray Charles. Carr toured worldwide with Charles for 10 years and played lead guitar for Charles' recordings Just Between Us and Live at Montreux. Carr began playing violin at age nine but by eleven he realized his true passion was the guitar. Carr grew up in Santa Cruz, CA; its inspiring natural beauty set the stage for Kenny's musical career. By his early teens, he was studying jazz theory with vibraphonist Rob Lautz and renowned trumpeter Ray Brown. Carr was surrounded by talented musicians who became close friends. By sixteen, he was performing at local venues where he met drummers Kenny Wollesen and Jeff Ballard, bassist Anders Swanson and saxophonist Donny McCaslin. In 1981, Carr and his fellow Santa Cruz musicians were invited to open for Carmen McRae and Freddie Hubbard at the Mount Tamalpais jazz festival, a catapult inspirationally and musically. Carr enjoyed a fruitful professional music career after Charles' passing, performing with and later serving as Musical Director for a premier contemporary and jazz ensemble in the mid-Atlantic. During these years, Carr performed in a wide range of public, private and protocol venues, and built a discography of titles under his own name including: Friday at Five (2005), Turn the Page (2006), Changing Tide (2007), Idle Talk (2014), Exit Moon (2015) and now Departure (2018). Departure is a continuation of the camaraderie of the Idle Talk recording sessions, reuniting the original group with new material. Recorded live at Bunker Studios in Brooklyn, NY, in January 2018, Departure continues the group's amazing rapport with creative ideas and stirring new tunes. Departure is scheduled for release on 1 November 2018. Kenny Carr - Guitars, Synthesizers Donny McCaslin - Saxophone Kenny Wollesen - Drums, Percussion Hans Glawischnig - Bass 1. Intervals 3:56 2.
