| EL ECO - PUERTO DE BUENOS AIRES 1933 CD RELEASE SUNDAY 5/6 @ Jazz Forum EL ECO with Guillermo Nojechowicz Featuring Brian Lynch, Helio Alves, Fernando Huergo & Marco Pignataro Puerto de Buenos Aires 1933 Led by drummer-composer Guillermo Nojechowicz (Claudio Roditi, Luciana Souza), EL ECO has just released a new CD, "Puerto de Buenos Aires 1933" on the NY Grammy-winning label, Zoho Music. This project was inspired by the journey of the composer's grandmother and father from Warsaw to Argentina in 1933 and the loss of family left behind during the Holocaust. The CD features vocalist Kim Nazarian (New York Voices), pianist Helio Alves (Joe Henderson, Yo-Yo Ma), Grammy winning trumpeter Brian Lynch (Eddie Palmieri), saxman Marco Pignataro (Berklee Global Jazz Institute, Eddie Gomez), and bassist Fernando Huergo (Antonio Sanchez, Tom Harrell). SUNDAY 5/6 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm JAZZ FORUM 1 Dixon Lane, Tarrytown, NY 10591 This is a beautiful and important record." —Luciana Souza With plenty of full-throated jazz soloing, the album has one foot in the southern hemisphere and one in the north, and the personnel also straddles the equator: Guillermo Nojechowicz's sextet El Eco (The Echo) is rounded out by American trumpet ace Brian Lynch…with a string quartet added for additional grandeur. Conceived in solemnity and impressively executed with passion and precision, it succeeds entirely. —Neil Tesser, JAZZIZ write your comments about the article :: © 2018 Jazz News :: home page |
