Helle Henning QUARTET Helle Henning, voice/composition Frank Kimbrough, piano Jay Anderson, bass Jeff Hirshfield, drums The Helle Henning Quartet explores and bridges worlds of American jazz and new Nordic jazz/folk music, with delicate balance and intense musical expression. All songs are written by this popular Danish singer, containing beautiful melodies and remarkable lyrics. Ms. Henning is an exciting performer, authentic storyteller, and together with her band, a dynamic improviser. Helle recorded her third solo album in New York City, receiving rave reviews, and playing a successful release tour in all large cities of Denmark with musicians Jay Anderson, Gregory Hutchinson, and Nikolaj Hess. Her recent recording Tell A Star represents nearly 13 years of a compositional style marked by wide imagination and emotional range. Tell A Star is Maryanne's third recording of original music. Her trio with Frank Kimbrough and Ron Horton was formed in 2002 and has been playing in New York City venues since then.
