Esperanza Spalding To Jam With An Unlikely Artist: Frank Gehry

At 1pm Pacific on September 7, Esperanza Spalding will join Frank Gehry to spend an hour creating together – Esperanza composing and recording music, Frank sketching – in a partnership that brings together these two minds from different spheres of art.

Broadcast live on Facebook, this event will give anyone in the world a backstage pass to witness the creative impulses of two visionary artists, and provide a sneak peek of Esperanza's improvisational 'Exposure' project on September 12.

The entire hour-long event will be streamed on Facebook Live from Esperanza's page as well as the official page of Architectural Digest, and both Esperanza's recording and Frank's sketch will be auctioned off together on Charitybuzz. All proceeds will go towards Bienestar, an Oregon-based non-profit that provides affordable housing to thousands of low-income Oregonians.

This event comes as a preview to 'Exposure, ' in which Esperanza will write from scratch and then record an entire album in 77 hours beginning on September 12 at 9am Pacific, with every second of the process being streamed on Facebook Live. A monitor will also capture and show Esperanza live audience comments, allowing them to participate in the process. After the album has been created and recorded, it will be rendered on limited edition CD and vinyl via Concord Records – just 7, 777 copies in total.
