| George Coleman, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci @ Jazz Forum September Weekends of Great Jazz & Brazilian Music Jazz: Fridays & Satudays Brazilian Music Sundays! George Coleman Quartet An NEA Jazz Master, George Coleman is well known for his deeply soulful and moving sound on the saxophone. His experiences from his roots in Memphis as well as working with greats such as Ahmad Jamal, Miles Davis and B.B. King have established him in the Jazz pantheon. Friday Sept. 15th & Saturday Sept. 16th 7PM & 9PM shows Joe Lovano Quartet The music Joe Lovano is able to create from his tenor saxophone has truly been a special thing to all musicians who play with him as well as patrons who have been lucky enough to hear him. Paul Motian describes Lovano as the "magic" in his band for many years. Lovano has played with other greats such as Stan Getz, Dave Brubeck, Elvin Jones, Herbie Hancock. He's a Blue Note Record musician who is continuing the tremendous history of Jazz with new inspiration and homage to the music. Friday Sept. 22nd & Saturday Sept. 23rd 7PM & 9PM shows John Patitucci Trio Brooklyn native and two time Grammy winner, bassist John Patitucci has made a name for himself in several areas of music. He has worked not only with esteemed musicians Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, and B.B. King, he has also worked with film composers Jerry Goldsmith and Ry Cooder, and rockstars Bon Jovi and Sting. His trio will feature Jon Cowherd, piano, and Nate Smith, drums. Friday Sept. 29th & Saturday Sept. 30th 7PM & 9PM shows Brazilian Music Sundays! Eddie Monteiro Quartet Eddie Monterio is not only esteemed at his instrument, making him the youngest honoree elected into the American Accordionist's Hall of Fame, but he has also been successful in a variety of other musical endeavors. He has performed in classical, jazz, dance, theater, and choral ensembles, and is internationally recognized for his fluency in Brazilian music. His beautiful voice and melodic accordion playing connects with the audience in a meaningful way. Sept. 17th 4PM & 6PM shows Laura Dreyer and The Manhattan/Rio Connection Multi-instrumentalist and NEA grant recipient, saxophonist Laura Dreyer has learned from legendary saxophonists such as Joe Lovano and Joe Henderson, and has played with veterans Mel Lewis, James McBride and Robert Palmer. Sept. 24th 4PM & 6PM shows Roger Davidson Quartet Featuring Hendrik Meurkens Pianist Roger Davidson has been called "one of the most lyrical and romantic pianists around" by Jazz Weekly. His classical training has given him a fresh perspective on Jazz unique among his contemporaries. It wasn't until later in his life that he began studying Jazz, learning from the greats Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, and James Moody. Oct. 1st 4PM & 6PM shows Mark Morganelli & The Jazz Forum All-Stars Performing Jazz classics including songs from the American Popular Songbook along with the best of Brazilian music featuring Roni Ben-Hur, guitar and Cameron Brown, bass We are excited to announce the revival of Mark Morganelli & The Jazz Forum All-Stars' record performance Jazz Series at Equus Restaurant! Mark is the Executive Director of Jazz Forum Arts in Tarrytown, NY and is a seasoned trumpeter, flugelhornist and producer.
