Stu Goldberg - Live

In the decade between the mid 1970's and 80's, American pianist/composer Stu Goldberg was a major force on the world jazz scene; pianist with John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra, he also worked with the likes of Wayne Shorter and Freddie Hubbard before moving to Los Angeles in 1985 to pursue an award-winning career composing for films. On this Live 1982 recording, Goldberg teams up with possibly the greatest European rhythm section of that era: bassist Palle Danielsson and drummer Jon Christenson.
Line-Up:
Palle Danielsson (Acoustic Bass), Jon Christensen (Drums, Percussion), Stu Goldberg (Piano)

The Chicago Jazz Giants Live!

Chicago jazz supreme played by the generation of musicians who grew up breathing in the fresh music that 'Satchmo', 'Fatha', 'Bix' and his gang had blown out of the Windy City. With the word 'Wild' thrown in front of his name, ya gotta figure trumpeter Bill Davison's music will be hot. Wild Bill was best known for his work with trad jazz icon Eddie Condon, Pee Wee Russell, and Bill's classic recordings with Sidney Bechet. Critic Richard Sudhalter said of Wild Bill's play, "with a fierce, uninhibited way of attacking the beat…the music comes out as from a flame-thrower…"
Line-Up:
Bob Wilber (clarinet), Cliff Leeman (drums), Eddie Hubble (trombone), Isla Eckinger (bass), Ralph Sutton (piano), Wild Bill Davison (cornet)

The Band - Live At The Schauspielhaus

Formed in 1972 by the four most influential Swiss jazz musicians of the period, saxophonist Flavio Ambrozetti, son trumpeter Franco, drummer Daniel Hummair, and band arranger/director, pianist George Gruntz, this 19-member orchestra was a unique mix of international all-stars. With inspired, cutting-edge compositions and an input of new blood with each new outing, what became known as The Concert Jazz Band marched at the forefront of international big bands. MPS recorded the first four albums of this historic group, which by 1978 was solely in the hands of Gruntz.
