Vince Tampio Fuses Jazz with World Music for Live at PafA

Vince Tampio self releases Live at PafA, a live jazz album recorded at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PafA). The music is an improvised conversation between traditional jazz instruments and non-western instruments including Eastern European percussion and the Indian drone instrument. Live at PafA was released January 24, 2017.

This project was recorded as part of HotHouse At PafA After Dark: a concert series of the Philadelphia Jazz Project. The Philadelphia Jazz Project is a sponsored project of the Culture Trust | Greater Philadelphia, with funding provided by The Wyncote Foundation.

Live at PafA features performances by Vince Tampio on trumpet, flugelhorn, and percussion, Brian Blaker on tenor saxophone and shaker, Jonathon Colvsom on electric bass, Ben Diamond on darbuka, frame drum, and cymbal, and Sarah Robertson on tanpura. In addition to performing, Vince composed and produced all five pieces featured on Live at PafA.

Vince Tampio (M.Mus.) is a professional musician in the Philadelphia and New York regions. He performs and arranges with the Philadelphia Jazz Project, the York Street Hustle, the John Byrne Band, and Red 40 & the Last Groovement.
