Louis Armstrong House Museum Presents Valentine’s Eve Concert By Davell Crawford

he Louis Armstrong House Museum is hosting a Valentine's Eve concert by New Orleans pianist Davell Crawford in the beautiful new Steinway Hall located at 1133 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. The concert will take place on Monday, February 13th, 2017, at 7 p.m. and will be immediately followed by a meet-the-artist reception.

Hailed as "The Prince of New Orleans, " the pianist and vocalist, Davell Crawford brings equal exuberance to jazz, rhythm and blues, funk, gospel, soul, pop, American folk and touches of country-western. He is considered the finest contemporary pianist to come out of New Orleans, a city with a rich tradition of extraordinary pianists (e.g., Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, and James Booker). Bill Taylor at Blues Magazine says, "Davell is one of the greatest musicians alive." The Jazz Foundation of America once called him, "a cross between Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles." Today, he thrills audiences with his own mesmerizing style. A favorite at the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, he has also delighted audiences in Spain, Italy, France, Russia, Brazil, and Morocco. Cited as one of the few musicians committed to keeping the piano sounds of New Orleans alive, he stands as one of the most versatile piano players in America today. He is an official Steinway Artist.

Crawford's performance will take place in the downstairs recital hall of Steinway Hall, the flagship location of Steinway & Sons. The recital hall, which has only 69 seats, provides an enchantingly intimate listening experience.

The Louis Armstrong House Museum is proud to partner with Steinway & Sons to produce this concert, as part of the Museum's Black History Month programs.

Tickets are available through EventBrite. Advance sales are highly recommended as the concert is anticipated to quickly sell out.
