| The Vic Juris Trio "Vic Juris Plays Victor Young" CD Release Show Steeplechase Records Presents The Vic Juris Trio "Vic Juris Plays Victor Young" CD Release Show Wed., Jan. 18th @ The Jazz Standard 116 E 27th St, New York, NY 10016 Vic Juris Guitar Jay Anderson Bass Adam Nussbaum on drums Special Guest Kate Baker voice There's hardly a musical context in which the gifted guitarist Vic Juris has not worked since beginning his professional career nearly a half–century ago. He's been half of a superb guitar duo with Larry Coryell, an invaluable contributor to the sax–led groups of Richie Cole and Dave Liebman, and a special guest with the Mingus Big Band – just to name three high–profile associations. Juris made his recording debut with saxophonist Eric Kloss in 1975 and gigged with Barry Miles' fusion group; his off–and–on association with Cole began in 1976, and Vic appears on some of the altoist's finest recordings. The guitarist's newest, Vic Juris Plays Victor Young presents Vic and the trio settling into the works of that great American Songbook composer. "Without much fanfare, guitarist Vic Juris has been accumulating an impressive body of recorded work…that showcases his flowing, warm-toned, bop-inflected lyricism and his penchant for unbridled swinging."
