| The Frank Piombo Band at The Bitter End Tuesday, January 3, 2017 10pm The Frank Piombo band will be performing at "The Bitter End." Joining Frank will be Dominick Gagliano, Howard Hall, Michael Mahadeen, Darryl Clark, and Veronica Piombo. New Jersey-based guitarist/vocalist Frank Piombo is an adept journeyman musician whose own music finds him delving into smooth jazz, swing standards, and funk. Born in Libya to a family of Italian descent, Piombo first became interested while listening to his father, an accomplished accordionist, perform. Having already moved with his family to Rome two years earlier, at age eight, Piombo immigrated with his family to the United States. It was during this time that he began taking guitar lessons. Initially inspired by '50s and '60s rock & roll, Piombo eventually developed an interest in playing jazz, a skill he put to good use playing weddings and local club dates. With over 30 years of performance experience, Piombo has garnered credits playing with such bands as the Duprees, the Mello-Kings, Vito & the Salutations, Formula Tre, I Nuovi Angeli, and many others. He has also built a loyal following of his own with the release of such albums as Smooth Reminiscence (2010), Sleepwalk (2011), and The Night Speaks (A Smooth Jazz Journey) (2013). ~ Matt Collar, Rovi write your comments about the article :: © 2017 Jazz News :: home page |
