Besides Louis Armstrong, American jazz cornetist and pianist Leon Bismark 'Bix' Beiderbecke was one of the most influential jazz soloists of the 1920s. With his unusual purity of tone and a gift for improvisation, he helped to invent the jazz ballad style and hinted at what, in the 1950s, would become Cool Jazz. […] Here, however, is something refreshing: a homage to a jazz giant, that is crazily irreverent as it is knowledgeable and sympathetic.< The London Times >Not only a history lesson, but a revelation.< Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) >A triumph of historic and contemporary jazz alike.< Berliner Morgenpost >This illustrious ensemble proved spectacularly, that also in the future music can only be mastered, when knowing the past.< Süddeutsche Zeitung write your comments about the article :: © 2016 Jazz News :: home page |
