| Elvis Costello Announces Preservation Hall Jazz Band will join him at Saenger Theater on October 15th Elvis Costello has announced that the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will join him onstage for a portion of his set at the historic Saenger Theater in New Orleans for his October 15th "Detour" solo show. Following his appearance with The Imposters at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival this year, Costello was the special surprise guest of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at their "Midnight Preserves" show, playing to more than the 100 capacity at Preservation Hall itself. Speaking of a recent appearance at Newport Folk Festival, Costello said, "We were fortunate to all find ourselves playing on the same afternoon and reprised some of the numbers performed for that first tiny audience. When Preservation Hall came marching out in a middle of my fifth number, I had a feeling we were headed somewhere special. I've been looking for an opportunity to take things further and could think of no better place to do it than back in New Orleans." Ben Jaffe, of Preservation Hall Jazz Band says: "Elvis Costello has been a tremendous supporter of New Orleans and The Preservation Hall. It's an honor to share the stage with Elvis at The Saenger Theater!" Rebecca and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe, will once again open the show, joining Costello in the finale, as they have done for many of the recent "Detour" shows, providing unique trio arrangements of some of Costello's best known tunes along with a preview of songs from the forthcoming stage musical, "A Face In The Crowd" . Elvis Costello, Rebecca and Megan Lovell and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will join forces at the end of this unique night of the current "Detour" run. write your comments about the article :: © 2016 Jazz News :: home page |
