| Valentina Marino - "In The Name of Love" - New on Jazzheads! New on Jazzheads Records Valentina Marino "In The Name Of Love" Release Date: August 12th Featuring: Cameron Brown, Anthony Pinciotti, Alberto Pibiri and many more! From Standards To David Bowie Vocalist, songwriter, arranger and lyricist Valentina Marino brings the sensitivity, sophistication and earthiness of her Mediterranean roots to cutting edge jazz. Marino is a musical gypsy, in constant search for unexplored paths where jazz can meet the energetic vibes and rhythms of Tango and Brazilian music, and where pop songs can explore the language of improvisation or land into adventurous arrangements. "Jazz is my magnet" - says Marino - "I love to see what happens when I temporarily separate from it and then find myself strongly pulled towards it". The blend of different music possibilities gravitating around jazz is what inspired her debut album. In The Name Of Love is a selection of her originals, contemporary jazz songs and standards, bossa nova and pop tunes that have been arranged within a jazz realm. Passion and vulnerability resonate in every phrase of Valentina Marino's music. A channel of artistic individualism, the Italian-born singer, composer and lyricist draws inspiration for her compositions and arrangements from personal experiences and universal insight. Brimming with evocative phrasing through a lush tone, Marino's music is an extension of her sensitivity and imagination as an artist and a human being. Leader of the Valentina Marino Quartet, she responds to each moment with a clarity of intention and an honest expression of self. While traveling back and forth across the Atlantic to perform with so many inspiring musicians, Marino was moved to channel some of their evolving synergy in the studio. She conceived of her debut record, In The Name Of Love, through a creative exploration of her own fascination with the human condition. Using deliberate harmony and thoughtful lyricism, the track selections consider universal themes of isolation, afflicted arousal and the agony and ecstasy of falling in love. Artfully curated by Marino, the record features her original lyrics and compositions, as well as contemporary arrangements of classic favorites from Bossa to Bowie. The personnel include the eclectic array of international artists who have supported Marino's creative vision throughout her burgeoning career: Producer Cameron Brown on bass, Jay Azzolina on guitar, Anthony Pinciotti on drums and percussion, Alberto Pibiri on piano and Maz Zooi on bass clarinet and alto saxophone. "Marino is a vocalist with a unique style and vision. She is ravishing in terms of sound and sensibility. She gives wonderful shape to songs upon which she casts her own special spotlight. Marino infuses lyrics with soulful power and brings them to life in the most colorful human way possible." - Raul da Gama - Jazzdagama write your comments about the article :: © 2016 Jazz News :: home page |
