| Shunzo Ohno Makes Debut at Joe's Pub 8/13! Shunzo Ohno, one of the most versatile and influential trumpeters in modern jazz, is honored to make his appearance at the world-renowned Joe's Pub at the Public alongside his music colleagues Paul Bollenback (guitar), David Berkman (piano), Darryl Johns (bass) and Jerome Jennings (drums). The spirited interplay of his band reveals the depth of skill and joy in spontaneity that is characteristic of Ohno's ensemble performances. Following his tenure with Blakey, Shunzo propelled with a series of important collaborations, including ones with Machito and his Afro-Cuban Orchestra, Wayne Shorter, Larry Coryell, Herbie Hancock, and Gil Evans, who was a long-time collaborator of Shunzo's. Shunzo has recorded 16 albums as a leader and has been featured on two Grammy winning recordings.
